Welcome to Forge: AI Trivia Showdown ("Forge", "we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website at forgetrivia.online.

1. Information We Collect

Forge is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information:

• Player name: You choose a display name to join a game room. This name is used during the active session and may appear on public leaderboards if you sign in.
• Google Sign-In profile: If you sign in, we receive your Google account ID, display name, email address, and profile picture so we can identify your account and sync your progress.
• Game progress: Coins, trophies, leaderboard rank, and donation claims may be stored so your progress can persist across sessions.
• Game topic: The trivia topic you enter is sent to our AI service to generate quiz questions.
• Usage data: We may collect anonymous analytics data such as page views and session duration through standard web technologies.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not require account registration or email addresses for guest browsing.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not collect payment information.
• We do not track your location.

3. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used solely to:

• Enable real-time multiplayer game sessions
• Generate AI-powered trivia questions via Google Gemini API
• Save signed-in player progress, leaderboard entries, and anti-abuse state
• Improve the performance and user experience of the game

4. Third-Party Services

Forge uses the following third-party services:

• Google Gemini API: Used to generate trivia questions. Topic text you enter is sent to Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Sign-In: Used to authenticate players who want persistent progress, multiplayer economy, and leaderboards.
• Supabase: Used to store leaderboard rows, coin/trophy progress, and manually verified donation claims.
• Vercel: Our website is hosted on Vercel, which may collect standard server logs. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• Google AdSense: The website version may display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. See Google's Advertising Policies.
• Google AdMob: A future Android app version may use Google AdMob instead of website AdSense. The native app and website monetization paths are kept separate in the codebase.

5. Cookies and Browser Storage

Forge itself uses a small number of cookies and browser storage entries to remember your preferences (such as mute settings, high scores, and cookie consent). These are stored locally on your device and are not sent to our servers.

In addition, third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads on our website based on your prior visits to this site or other sites on the internet. The use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

6. AI Question Generation & Data Handling

When you or the game host types a trivia topic into Forge, that topic string is transmitted securely to the Google Gemini API (a third-party Large Language Model service operated by Google DeepMind) for the sole purpose of generating quiz questions in real time.

We want to be transparent about what this means:

• Only the topic text is sent — never your Google account details, display name, coin balance, trophy count, or any other personal identifier.
• Your Google account credentials and profile data are never bound to or included in any prompt payload sent to the Gemini API.
• Topic data is processed transiently by Google's infrastructure and is subject to Google's Gemini API Terms of Service and their associated data usage policies.
• Forge does not store or log your topic entries on our own servers after the game session ends.

We recommend avoiding entering any personally identifiable information as a quiz topic.

7. Website vs Android App

The public website at forgetrivia.online is the crawlable web version of Forge and may use Google AdSense. The Android app version is packaged separately through Capacitor and is intended to use app-appropriate monetization such as Google AdMob when ads are added. App-only game modes may be introduced in the Android version without changing the public website experience.

8. Children's Privacy

Forge is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Data Retention

Active room data (player names, answers, and live scores) is stored in memory only for the duration of the active game session. For users who sign in with Google, Forge stores lightweight progression data tied to the Google account ID, including coin and trophy balances.

10. Your Rights

If you sign in with Google, you may request deletion or correction of your saved progression data by contacting us. Guest-only active room data is not retained after the session ends or the server restarts.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Forge after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
